Kirk Medas, MTV’s Floribama Shore Star, Dies at 33 After ICU Battle

“Gone too soon. Floribama Shore star Kirk Medas passes away at 33 after a brave ICU fight. Fans and castmates mourn the loss of a vibrant soul who brought light and loyalty to every moment.”

Kirk Medas, a familiar face from MTV’s Floribama Shore, has died at 33 after spending two weeks in intensive care. His family confirmed to TMZ that his passing was caused by necrotizing pancreatitis, a severe illness that eventually led to liver failure.

Medas, who was featured in 25 episodes of the reality show from 2017 to 2020, passed away shortly after former castmates issued emotional pleas online, asking fans for prayers and support during his critical condition.

His close friend and co-star, Aimee Hall, initially shared the sad news in a heartfelt Facebook post, which has since been removed. In the post, she described sensing his spirit at the beach, represented by a dolphin—an animal both she and Medas cherished. “Though I’m heartbroken, I’m comforted knowing he’s no longer suffering,” she wrote, adding that Medas was the emotional cornerstone of their group.

Hall and fellow cast member Nilsa Prowant had kept fans updated on Medas’ condition, revealing he had been sedated and placed on a ventilator. They also promoted a GoFundMe campaign initially created to help with his medical expenses. Following his death, it was redirected to assist with funeral costs and has since raised over $27,000.

In a statement, MTV expressed sorrow over the loss: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Kirk Medas. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and fans during this incredibly difficult time.”

Necrotizing pancreatitis is a critical condition where pancreatic tissue becomes inflamed and begins to die, often resulting in serious complications, including organ failure, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Kirk Medas is remembered not only for his vibrant energy and loyal friendships but also for the lasting impression he left on fans of Floribama Shore.
