Benson Boone made his Saturday Night Live debut on May 3, joining the episode as the featured musical guest alongside host Quinta Brunson, the creative force and lead actress behind Abbott Elementary.
The Grammy-nominated singer took to the stage twice during the show, launching his first performance with a theatrical leap from a piano before delivering his single “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else.” He added a fun twist by briefly serenading Brunson, who introduced him with a playful exchange that ended in a knowing glance as she exited.
Marking her second time hosting SNL, Brunson opened the night with a high-energy musical number celebrating the perks of being on the shorter side. Flanked by dancers, she joked about relatable quirks—like getting buzzed after just one glass of wine or turning crop tops into full-length outfits.
Midway through the segment, pop star Sabrina Carpenter made a surprise appearance, contributing cheeky verses that explored the “short life,” questioning things like whether “short ribs” are just regular ribs and if “short stories” are simply unfinished books.
The two then honored a lineup of successful, shorter-than-average stars, including Simone Biles, Tom Holland, and Kendrick Lamar, proving that height has no bearing on talent or impact.
Although Carpenter didn’t perform musically that night, both she and Boone were among the 2025 Grammy nominees for Best New Artist, a title that ultimately went to Chappell Roan.
Boone’s SNL appearance came on the heels of his Coachella debut in April, where he wowed fans by performing Queen’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody” with legendary guitarist Brian May. His second studio album, American Heart, is slated for release on June 20.
