Bethesda has finally confirmed what many fans already suspected: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is real—and it’s officially out now.
A newly released gameplay trailer offers a fresh glimpse into the reimagined version of the beloved fantasy RPG. Developed by Virtuos and powered by Unreal Engine 5, this remaster breathes new life into the iconic 2006 title.
In a statement, Bethesda’s Todd Howard spoke about the studio’s journey over the years and highlighted how this updated version honors the original while modernizing its systems. The remaster delivers 4K visuals at 60 frames per second, but the enhancements go far deeper. Everything from character creation and progression to combat mechanics and interface design has received a significant overhaul. Players can also enjoy improved third-person gameplay, realistic lip-syncing, and newly recorded dialogue.
Oblivion, which debuted on PC and Xbox 360 in 2006 and came to PS3 in 2007, centers on a protagonist striving to thwart a cult bent on opening gates to a demonic dimension known as Oblivion, set in the realm of Cyrodiil.
Launching as a surprise drop on April 22, Oblivion Remastered is now available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 for $49.99. It’s also included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Weighing in at 119.2 GB, the remaster comes in both a standard edition and a Deluxe Edition, the latter featuring bonus content—yes, including that infamous horse armor DLC.
